What you'll do

Lead the scientific strategy for building a context-aware semantic layer from diverse data types.
Ensure all data products are optimized for tool-calling and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
Evaluate emerging AI frameworks to determine their suitability for Sam's Club’s agentic stack.
Develop methodologies for enriching context to provide agents with accurate mental models of the environment.
Create evaluation frameworks to measure semantic precision, retrieval relevancy, and reasoning trajectory success.

What we're looking for

7+ years of experience in Data Science, Applied ML, or Semantic Engineering with a track record of deploying complex systems.
Expertise in agentic stack technologies including vector databases and graph databases.
Deep understanding of ontology design, knowledge graph construction, and embedding space optimization.
Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala with strong engineering mindset for schema choices and performance tuning.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align them around a technical vision for agent-led engagement.
Experience evaluating emerging AI frameworks and state-of-the-art models for integration into production systems.
