As a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart’s Corporate Technology Services team, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced retail solutions using Computer Vision algorithms, Generative AI methods, and deep learning architectures. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing and training computer vision models for object detection and personalized visual experiences, building scalable multimodal pipelines that integrate text, images, and customer data to enhance personalization, mentoring junior team members on best practices in image generative modeling, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into actionable data-driven solutions. This role requires expertise in deep learning frameworks like CNNs and vision transformers, proficiency in Python and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, and Hugging Face, and familiarity with multimodal models that combine vision and language for richer customer insights.
Design and deploy computer vision models for object detection and image-based personalization.
Build scalable multimodal pipelines using text, images, and customer embeddings to enhance visual experiences.
Mentor team members on best practices in generative modeling and retail context applications.
Optimize model performance and latency by integrating with MLOps and deploying in production environments.
Translate business requirements into data-driven solutions through cross-functional collaboration.
What we're looking for
MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Applied Mathematics, with 5-8 years of industry experience.
Expertise in deep learning for computer vision using CNNs, ViTs, and diffusion-based generative models.
Experience deploying image generation systems like visual search and personalized recommendations in production.
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, torchvision, Hugging Face.
Knowledge of multimodal models (CLIP, BLIP, Flamingo) for combining vision and language in customer solutions.
