As a Staff Data Scientist on the Omni Price Recommendation Engine team at Walmart Global Tech, you will lead the development and deployment of high-frequency pricing systems that balance competitive positioning with long-term margin health. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing prescriptive ML models for pricing decisions, performing elasticity analysis across large datasets, and owning the end-to-end lifecycle of price recommendation systems from scoping to performance optimization. You will leverage advanced techniques such as causal inference, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and uncertainty quantification to build explainable pricing systems that provide clear narratives on model reasoning. What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in Data Science or Applied ML with a focus on pricing and causal modeling.
Proven track record of delivering production-grade optimization models that yield significant financial benefits.
Expertise in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow for decision-focused AI applications.
Strong knowledge of pricing dynamics including seasonality, competitor indexing, and promotional impact.
Experience with Explainable AI (XAI) to communicate complex model reasoning effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Hands-on experience with causal inference, reinforcement learning, and elasticity modeling techniques.
Excellent coding skills in Python and understanding of software engineering practices such as testing and CI/CD.
