TL;DR · TouchID Electrical Engineering Tech Lead

As an Electrical Engineering Tech Lead on Apple's Sensing Systems team, you will drive the next generation of Touch ID sensor designs, focusing on defining module architectures and circuit design decisions that impact millions of users. Your day-to-day involves leading multi-functional teams through complex integration challenges, identifying technical risks early, and developing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track. You'll also present technical recommendations to executives and ensure alignment across disciplines. Essential skills include strong analog circuit design fundamentals, proficiency with SPICE for simulation and lab debug, and experience owning designs from concept to production. Preferred qualifications involve leading technical discussions, expertise in capacitive or biometric sensing systems, and familiarity with flexible PCB design and signal/power integrity analysis. This role demands deep knowledge of MEMS and capacitive sensor development at a large scale, balancing performance, power consumption, manufacturability, and schedule constraints.

What you'll do

  • Define sensor module electrical architectures and drive design decisions through production.
  • Own circuit design tradeoffs to optimize performance, power, sensitivity, noise, and manufacturability.
  • Lead multi-functional teams through integration challenges by defining technical direction.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the development process.
  • Influence silicon-level requirements based on system needs for optimal sensor function.

What we're looking for

  • Strong background in analog circuit design with full product development experience.
  • Proficiency in SPICE for circuit simulation and lab debug capabilities.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex integration challenges.
  • Track record of presenting technical strategies to executive leadership.
  • Experience in capacitive or biometric sensing systems and flexible PCB design.
  • Skill in statistical analysis tools for data-driven decision-making.
  • Capability to create engineering specifications and influence silicon requirements.
