As a Staff Data Scientist at NerdWallet, you will lead the design and implementation of causal inference frameworks to measure incremental impact across personalization and marketing initiatives. You’ll build and scale LTV models for real-time decisioning, develop personalization systems that influence user intent, and deploy production-grade machine learning models driving revenue outcomes. This role involves partnering with Data Engineering teams to define data instrumentation and model monitoring frameworks while providing technical leadership by setting best practices across modern data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks. You will mentor senior data scientists and communicate complex insights to executive stakeholders, shaping long-term AI-driven growth strategies for the company’s marketplaces and personalization efforts.

Influence architectural decisions on modern data and ML platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and Spark.
What we're looking for
Over 8 years of experience in applied machine learning and causal inference.
Expertise in designing and implementing causal measurement frameworks like uplift modeling, DML, IVs.
Proven track record of building and scaling LTV models for real-time applications.
Strong software engineering skills with Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn) and PySpark.
Experience with distributed systems and modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks.
Hands-on experience deploying machine learning models that significantly impact business outcomes.
