As a Senior Systems Engineer at our Chicago-based WealthTech company, you will join a dynamic infrastructure team to build and maintain Linux-based application systems in a growing DevOps environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities include deploying applications with Salt and Ansible, troubleshooting server issues, managing system monitoring tools like DataDog and LogicMonitor, and designing automation scripts using Python or Shell scripting. You’ll also collaborate closely with software engineering teams to ensure high performance and reliability of production systems while overseeing cloud infrastructure and non-proprietary application stacks such as Kubernetes and Docker. This role requires 5+ years of experience in Linux administration, cloud environments, and hands-on expertise with tools like VMWare, MongoDB, and Ansible, along with strong scripting skills and a passion for automation and troubleshooting.
Operate and continuously improve Linux systems engineering and administration.
Deploy and automate applications using SaltStack and Ansible.
Troubleshoot and resolve server events and user incidents related to Linux systems.
Manage system monitoring tools like DataDog, LogicMonitor, and SNMP.
Design automation scripts for tasks and processes using scripting languages.
Maintain non-proprietary application stack including Kubernetes and Docker.
Oversee infrastructure environment involving VMware, storage, backups, etc.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering and administration.
Experience with cloud environments including migration, management, and architecture.
Proficiency in configuration management tools like Ansible and SaltStack.
Expertise in deploying and automating applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Shell, or other languages for automation.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking troubleshooting and SAN storage solutions.
Excellent organizational and communication skills with a focus on detail and urgency.
