Sr. Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Content Ecosystem

What you'll do

• Define technical strategy for ML systems to enhance Pinterest's content ecosystem health.
• Develop a measurement framework to quantify and improve content quality and user value.
• Identify underserved content areas by building models that analyze content gaps and contexts.
• Design optimization approaches balancing relevance, quality, diversity, integrity, and monetization.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices for ML engineering rigor and excellence.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience leading technical strategy for machine learning systems.
• Proven ability to develop and implement multi-objective optimization approaches.
• Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics and long-term ecosystem health metrics.
• Strong background in causal thinking, experimentation, and model interpretability.
• Experience with AI coding assistants like Cursor, Copilot, or Codex.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and establish best ML engineering practices.
