Ideal candidates have experience with voice agents, agentic architectures, multilingual NLU/NLG, and a track record of shipping customer-facing intelligent experiences.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of an autonomous support agent including planning and execution loops.
  • Design and implement production systems handling millions of conversations with strict service level objectives.
  • Lead initiatives for developing Uber’s voice support agent, focusing on real-time speech recognition and text-to-speech integration.
  • Advance retrieval and reasoning pipelines to ensure consistent and policy-driven responses from the AI agent.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks that include safety tests and cost/latency trade-offs for continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of experience building and leading production ML/AI systems.
  • Deep expertise in LLM-driven systems including safety/guardrails and evaluations.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python with Go/Java/C++; microservices, cloud infrastructure, and real-time telemetry.
  • Ownership of high-availability services with SLO/SLA design and incident response experience.
  • Background in voice agents and conversational quality evaluation, including ASR/TTS and telephony integration.
