TL;DR · Sr. DSP Engineer (Starshield)

As a Senior DSP Engineer on the Starshield satellite team, you will collaborate with RF engineers, software developers, and hardware experts to design and build advanced systems for global connectivity and intelligence data access. Your daily tasks include driving program-level decisions on sensor firmware and software designs, researching innovative solutions for large-scale RF sensing systems, and designing algorithms for both on-orbit and ground-based sensor data processing. You will work closely with FPGA, RF/antenna, and software engineers to validate RF sensing systems through rigorous testing and demonstrations. The role requires expertise in MATLAB, C/C++, Python, and experience with frameworks like GNU Radio, along with a strong background in digital signal processing, system-level modeling, and knowledge of link budgets for RF sensing systems.

What you'll do

  • Drive program-level decisions on sensor firmware and software designs.
  • Research novel solutions for large-scale RF sensing systems.
  • Design and test algorithms for on-orbit and ground-based sensor data processing.
  • Collaborate with FPGA, RF/antenna, and software engineers to design and validate RF sensing systems.
  • Perform on-orbit demonstrations and testing of satellite systems.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5+ years of DSP engineering experience, or 7+ years of professional DSP experience.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on communication systems/DSP preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working on RF sensors or related systems.
  • Experience modeling RF channel impairments such as multipath, phase noise, and fading.
  • Proficiency in software-defined radios and frameworks like GNU Radio.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, C/C++, and Python for system design and analysis.
