Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to provide senior technical and people leadership for critical cybersecurity governance platform engineering initiatives. This role is accountable for the ownership and delivery of solutions for Cyber Governance areas such as Security Baselines, Cloud and Cyber AI assessments.

The role drives disciplined execution across infrastructure as code, policy as code, and secure platform services, while shaping a future‑state, unified and AI‑enabled cybersecurity governance solution. This leader ensures engineering delivery aligns with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity strategy, and risk management expectations, and plays a key role in reducing execution and security risk during a major transformation period.  The ideal candidate brings strong engineering judgment, experience leading senior engineers and a track record of delivering complex, time‑bound initiatives with significant technical and organizational dependencies.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of senior engineers responsible for cybersecurity and platform engineering capabilities.
  • Own execution and delivery of Cyber Cloud Risk Assessment, Security Baselines, and Cyber AI assessment solutions/initiatives.
  • Lead application migration and engineering enablement required to support the new data center.
  • Provide technical leadership across infrastructure as code, policy as code, and secure platform services.
  • Shape and evolve a unified, AI‑enabled cybersecurity governance engineering solution aligned to enterprise strategy.
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery for time‑bound, high‑impact initiatives with enterprise visibility.
  • Act as an escalation point for delivery risks, architectural gaps, and execution issues.
  • Ensure adherence to Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), security baselines, and enterprise risk controls.
  • Maintain execution discipline during periods of high change and transformation.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience in application development and engineering, with demonstrated ability to design, build, enhance, and rationalize enterprise applications in support of business and technology strategies
  • Proven experience leading and developing an engineering team of approximately 10–15 professionals, with accountability for delivery, quality, and adherence to established engineering and risk standards

  • Strong experience delivering and executing against an engineering or product roadmap, including prioritization of features, technical improvements, and platform enhancements

  • Demonstrated technical fluency across multiple application and data technology stacks, preferably including Java-based platforms, relational databases, and graph database technologies
  • Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments, partnering effectively with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology solutions
  • Ability to evaluate, adopt, and integrate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation capabilities, to improve assessment platforms, engineering efficiency, or decision-making; experience with AI solutions is preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity governance concepts, technology risk, and control requirements, with the ability to collaborate with cybersecurity and risk partners; deep cybersecurity specialization is not required
  • Demonstrated ability to balance delivery commitments with architectural integrity, application consolidation, and long-term platform sustainability
  • Strong execution and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, make informed trade-off decisions, and deliver results in a changing environment

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work a hybrid work schedule – 3 days a week on-site/in office and 2 days a week remote.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
