We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a core team developing Adyen’s Issuing Platform, a critical component of our Financial Products offering that processes millions of transactions daily. In this role, you will drive the technical roadmap for expanding card issuing capabilities and wallet integrations while maintaining high standards for reliability and security. You will act as the technical authority, guiding product decisions and collaborating with Product Managers to ensure strategic delivery. Additionally, you will coach a team of Backend and Mobile Engineers, addressing technical debt and fostering best practices. Ideal candidates have at least three years of people management experience in Issuing or similar financial domains, along with deep expertise in Java 21, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, and Elastic, and a strong focus on customer-centric solutions.
Drive the technical roadmap for expanding card issuing, network tokenization, and wallet integration services.
Serve as the technical leader and domain expert for Cards & Wallets platform, ensuring high standards of reliability and security.
Coach and mentor a team of Backend and Mobile Engineers to build a high-performing engineering unit.
Manage project timelines in collaboration with Product Managers while addressing technical debt proactively.
Maintain a strong product mindset, understanding clients' needs and the broader market landscape for financial products.
What we're looking for
At least 3 years of experience in people management and coaching high-performance engineering teams.
Proven expertise in card issuing, wallets, tokenization, or managing critical global API-based financial products.
Deep technical knowledge in building and scaling world-class API-based financial services using Java 21, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Elastic.
Strong execution skills with effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to lead complex projects involving multiple teams and external partners, demonstrating strong influencing and strategic thinking.
