We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a core team in developing Adyen’s Issuing Platform, a critical component of our Financial Products offering that processes millions of transactions globally. This role involves driving the technical roadmap for expanding card issuing capabilities and wallet integrations while ensuring reliability, performance, and security standards remain high. You will act as the technical authority, guiding product decisions and collaborating with Product Managers to manage project timelines and address technical debt. Additionally, you will coach and mentor a team of Backend and Mobile Engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Ideal candidates have at least three years of people management experience in financial technology or related domains, along with deep expertise in Java 21, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, and Elastic. Strong execution skills, collaboration abilities, and a customer-centric mindset are essential for success in this high-impact role.
Drive the technical roadmap for expanding card issuing, network tokenization, and wallet integration services.
Serve as the technical leader and domain expert for the Cards & Wallets platform, making critical product decisions.
Build and mentor a high-performing team of Backend and Mobile Engineers to ensure continuous growth and excellence.
Manage project timelines in collaboration with Product Managers while addressing technical debt proactively.
Maintain deep understanding of clients' needs and market landscape to focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.
What we're looking for
At least 3 years of experience in people management and coaching high-performance engineering teams.
Proven domain expertise in card issuing, wallets, or tokenization at an issuer (FinTech preferred).
Deep technical knowledge in building and scaling world-class API-based financial services.
Strong execution skills with effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Experience leading complex projects involving multiple internal teams and external partners.
Comfortable discussing and challenging decisions made by senior engineers using Java 21, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Elastic.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong product mindset focused on customer experience.
