The successful candidate for this Software Engineer position will join the B-1 Avionics Flight Software team located at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK and will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software system and subsystem engineering models utilizing Jira throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, and safety standards. You will have the opportunity to review, analyze, and translate customer requirements and technical specifications for stakeholder use.

The Software Engineer will collaborate with a diverse engineering team to design, develop, and deploy operational flight software used to monitor and test the B-1.  Your expertise will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, enhancing, and optimizing system and subsystem components and functionalities for systems integrations.

Additionally, you will be a system and subsystem resource to team members, who will debug and resolve issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.               

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supporting software development on agile teams which are tasked with integrating/implementing solutions onto a platform
  • Uses analytical problem-solving skills to resolve problems for the company and suppliers
  • Use engineering skills to deliver improved weapon system capabilities to our customers
  • Applies engineering knowledge to continuously improve processes and tools
  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to conduct analysis
  • Gathers information to design, develop, analyze, and maintain software systems that meet industry, customer and internal quality, safety, security and certification standards.
  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and participate in translation of system-level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational and performance requirements and have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts.
  • Assists in completion of software system-level analyses to identify risk, issues and opportunities; supports integration and deployment of mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Participates in code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.
  • Assists with monitoring and reviewing test completion, verification processes and issue resolution for software systems.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have an active Secret U.S. Security clearance
  • 5+ years of professional experience with infrastructure design, implementation and troubleshooting
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, developing using any of the following languages: C++, C, Ada, C#, Java, Python

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Experience in handling documentation products for the use of developers and stakeholders, specifically regarding requirements and systems of systems
  • Experience with Navigation Modeling and Flight Simulation
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels
  • Experience with software design and development tools such as DOORS and logic diagrams
  • Experience with aircraft schematics, wiring diagrams, and job guide procedures
  • Technical writing experience
