Software Engineer (L5) - Experimentation Platform

What you'll do

• Design and implement high-scale, low-latency services for experiment allocation and feature flag evaluation.
• Advance core distributed systems for decentralized allocation, rules evaluation, and real-time decisioning.
• Lead incident response during on-call rotations and drive long-term reliability improvements.
• Instrument services with rich observability tools to ensure resilience, performance, and scalability.
• Collaborate with teams using Flink, Spark, Elasticsearch, and Druid to ensure correct and timely experimentation data.
• Define clear data and API contracts for consumers and pipelines to enhance usability.
• Simplify and improve the developer experience for configuring, launching, and monitoring experiments and feature flags.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience building and operating scalable, reliable backend services.
• Proficient in designing high-scale, low-latency distributed systems for real-time decisioning.
• Expertise in ensuring observability through metrics, logs, traces for resilience and performance.
• Strong coding skills in Java or another JVM language with a focus on production quality.
• Experience in collaborating effectively across senior engineering teams and cross-functional partners.
• Deep understanding of experimentation workflows and improving developer experience for experiments.
• Ability to drive long-term reliability improvements and lead incident response during on-call.
