As a Software Engineer II in Microsoft’s Sovereign Cloud Security team, you will design, implement, test, and maintain cloud-scale services that protect mission-critical environments requiring the highest levels of trust and compliance. Your daily tasks include building features for security, management, and reliability scenarios, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, and participating in 24x7 on-call rotations to ensure service health and quick incident resolution. You will work with modern tools and practices such as DevOps systems, CI/CD pipelines, and secure-by-design principles, including threat modeling and defense-in-depth strategies. The role demands expertise in languages like C++, Java, or Python, experience with cloud computing, virtual machines, and networking, and a strong background in security disciplines and operational excellence.
Design and implement secure-by-design cloud-scale services for mission-critical environments.

Investigate and resolve live-site issues to ensure service reliability and operational excellence.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations to respond to incidents and restore service quickly.
Apply secure-by-design principles including threat modeling throughout the development lifecycle.
Collaborate with security, operations, and compliance teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience.
Proficiency in coding languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Active U.S. security clearance for government and customer screenings.
Experience with DevOps systems including CI/CD pipelines and code review tools.
Strong debugging skills across operating systems, applications, and cloud environments.
Hands-on experience in building and supporting large-scale production services.
Familiarity with cloud computing, virtual machines, and networking.
