As an Applied AI Specialist at CNN’s AI Enablement & Machine Learning team, you will join the AI Systems & Enablement group to build and refine AI-powered applications for both audience engagement and internal operations. Your day-to-day involves designing prompts, evaluating AI outputs, and structuring human feedback workflows to ensure accuracy and trustworthiness in features like article summaries and content classification. You’ll work closely with software engineers and editorial teams to translate AI capabilities into practical solutions that meet CNN’s high standards for reliability and user experience. Key skills include prompt engineering for large language models, evaluation criteria design, and strong domain knowledge of content operations or editorial processes. Familiarity with Python scripting is a plus, as you’ll need to analyze data and automate workflows. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly across teams in a fast-evolving digital landscape.

What we're looking for
2-4 years experience in content operations, editorial processes, or classification systems
Expertise in prompt engineering for large language models (LLMs)
Experience designing evaluation criteria and quality assessment workflows for AI outputs
Strong understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, stochastic behavior, and cost implications
Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Detail-oriented with analytical skills for working with evaluation data and metrics
Collaborative mindset for effective cross-functional team work
