What you'll do

  • Evolve the GraphQL schema layer using federation patterns and lifecycle governance.
  • Define API paradigms for client-driven, server-driven, and emerging patterns.
  • Design intuitive APIs that are correct, resilient, and easy to consume by partner teams.
  • Develop tooling and guardrails for the entire API lifecycle from design to deprecation.
  • Integrate AI-assisted contributions into the API development workflow.
  • Mentor team members on GraphQL best practices and API resilience patterns.

What we're looking for

  • Deep hands-on experience designing and evolving GraphQL APIs at production scale
  • Expertise in schema design, federation, breaking-change management, and field lifecycle governance
  • Strong intuition for client-server API relationships and ability to reason about tradeoffs between paradigms
  • Comfort operating in large distributed systems with understanding of blast radius and operational implications
  • Excellent communication skills for writing precise proposals and managing productive tension with partner teams
  • Experience owning developer-facing infrastructure where other teams are primary customers
