Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (SKillbridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.
Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.
Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.
Outcome – Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
· Has served at least 180 days on active duty
· Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
· Will receive an honorable discharge
· Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
· Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
· Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Skillbridge Position - Operations Project Manager / Principal Operations Project Manager. This position will be located at Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get to Do:
• Facilitating end to end Engineering Change Management across the entire Design Review lifecycle.
• Integrated and tasked with governing all data artifacts and package deliverables essential for the Design Review.
• Steward data integrity, ensure end to end visibility, and generate actionable metrics for the Design Review process.
• Coordinate and enforce closure of action items according to the predefined schedule, ensuring each task meets its estimated completion date (ECD).
• Serve as an overall integration function for the program engaging in many ad hoc activities required to ensure streamlined cadence for program operations.
• Develop and deliver high level briefings to Program Leadership
• Provide solutions to complex problems that are consistent with the organization’s objectives
• Identify opportunities for change and champion needed changes in the organization
Basic Qualifications:
• Operations Project Manager - Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience. Additional 4+ years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Principal Operations Project Manager - Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience. Additional 4+ years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
• Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and execution of large projects
• Proficiency in creating, maintaining and utilizing metrics in Tableau, excel, and SharePoint.
• Experience in Microsoft Office suite of tools including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and multitask.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Common Product Life Cycle Management (CPLM), Digital Engineering Environment (DEE), or Teamcenter to support Engineering Release lifecycle.
• Understanding of Manufacturing environments and operations
• Experience in program stand up
• Experience with schedule management, risk management and performance management
• Knowledge of Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence)
• Capability to create and conduct high level briefings
• Experience leading a team
• Ability to work independently and multi-task
Primary Level Salary Range: $65,500.00 - $98,300.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
