Senior Staff Software Engineer, Payments

What you'll do

• Define and drive the multi-quarter technical strategy for Payments to support new products and geos.
• Architect and evolve core Payments platform for high availability, low latency, and cost efficiency at global scale.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of large cross-team initiatives like new global rails and migrations.
• Set and enforce technical standards for financial correctness across all money-movement paths in Payments.
• Use data and observability signals to identify structural gaps and lead systematic reliability improvements.
• Provide deep technical mentorship to senior engineers, upleveling system design quality and long-term maintainability.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Deep expertise in money movement architecture including PSPs, ISO 20022 standards, routing, and high-volume payment systems.
• Proficient in backend programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java and cloud-native architecture.
• Proven ability to design highly available and high-performance systems with a focus on reliability and efficiency.
• Strong track record of leading cross-functional technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers.
• Commitment to fostering a culture of technical excellence and best practices within the engineering team.
