As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Firefly Boards team, you will lead the development of the agent platform, focusing on building and maintaining the server-side agent runtime, defining the browser/server execution boundary for real-time collaboration, and integrating with Adobe’s central agent platform. Your day-to-day involves designing robust systems for state management, error recovery, and observability, ensuring that AI-driven workflows are reliable and scalable. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to shape technical direction and influence without direct authority, requiring expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and server-side languages like Python or Java. Ideal candidates have a track record of building production systems at scale, experience with distributed systems, and a background in real-time collaborative applications. This role is crucial for enabling Firefly Boards to deliver AI-powered mood-boarding and ideation capabilities that cater to the needs of modern creatives.
Define and own the server-side agent runtime for Firefly Boards, managing state, checkpointing, and error recovery.
Design and implement the protocol for browser/server execution boundary to ensure reliable operation under multiplayer conditions.
Integrate Firefly Boards' agent runtime with Adobe's central agent platform, shaping platform contracts where necessary.
Refactor existing APIs and create new ones to enable agentic consumption of backend services in Firefly Boards.
Ensure end-to-end observability and manage latency budgets for agent runs across the system.
What we're looking for
10+ years of product engineering experience with significant ownership of production systems at scale.
Demonstrated full-stack depth in backend services and modern web client work, including JavaScript/TypeScript and declarative UI frameworks.
Proven expertise in distributed systems, state management, checkpointing, and recovery from partial failures.
Experience integrating with central platform teams as an early customer and shaping internal platforms.
Track record of designing service APIs and microservices, ensuring robustness across multiple teams or organizations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for influencing decisions in cross-organizational forums.
Experience driving sophisticated software architecture and development across multiple teams or organizations.
