As a Senior Software Engineer on the Commerce Growth Messaging team at Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology, you will lead the technical evolution of a mission-critical platform serving millions of global subscribers across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. You will define architectural direction and implement large-scale distributed systems to ensure high availability and resilience in transactional messaging. Your responsibilities include partnering with multi-functional teams to integrate messaging requirements, investigating internationalization challenges, and driving engineering excellence through robust architecture and high-quality code delivery. The role requires mastery of Java or similar backend languages, deep knowledge of AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, and Kinesis, as well as expertise in both relational and NoSQL databases. You will work on a fast-paced team with a global reach, impacting Disney Streaming’s international expansion by navigating complex technical landscapes to deliver seamless commerce experiences.

What we're looking for
5+ years of intensive backend development experience
Mastery of Java or other modern backend programming languages
Deep knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, Kinesis)
Proven proficiency in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems
Strong ability to investigate deep-tier technical components while maintaining a high-level view of overall system architecture
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for bridging technical and non-technical partners
