As a Senior Software Engineer on Plaid’s Machine Learning Infrastructure team in Seattle, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the company into an AI-first organization by designing and building scalable ML platforms. Your responsibilities include creating robust feature stores, pipelines, deployment frameworks, and inference systems to support model developers across Plaid. You’ll drive the adoption of next-generation tools that enhance reliability and velocity for model development while ensuring operational excellence through best practices in observability, security, and performance. This hands-on role requires expertise in ML infrastructure, distributed systems, and experience with tools like MLFlow or SageMaker. Your work will directly impact Plaid’s ability to deliver secure, AI-powered financial solutions at scale.
Design and implement large-scale ML infrastructure, including feature stores and deployment tooling.
Drive the rollout of a next-generation feature store to enhance model development reliability and speed.
Define and promote an ML Ops “golden path” for secure, scalable model training and monitoring.
Ensure operational excellence in ML pipelines, focusing on reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with ML product teams to deliver solutions that accelerate experimentation and iteration processes.
Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.
What we're looking for
5+ years of industry experience in software engineering with a focus on ML/AI infrastructure or large-scale distributed systems.
Hands-on expertise in building and operating ML platforms, including feature stores, data pipelines, training, and inference frameworks.
Proven track record of delivering reliable and scalable production infrastructure.
Solid understanding of ML Ops concepts, tooling, observability, security, and reliability best practices.
Strong communication skills for collaboration across diverse teams.
Experience with ML Ops tools like MLFlow, SageMaker, or model registries (preferred).
Background in scaling ML infrastructure in fast-paced product environments (preferred).
