As a Senior Software Engineer on Plaid’s Machine Learning Infrastructure team, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the company into an AI-first organization by designing and building large-scale ML infrastructure. Your responsibilities include creating scalable feature stores, pipelines, deployment frameworks, and inference systems to enable reliable model development and deployment. You’ll drive the rollout of a next-generation feature store, define best practices for ML Ops, ensure operational excellence, and collaborate with product teams to accelerate AI-powered financial solutions. This hands-on role requires expertise in ML infrastructure, distributed systems, and production-level reliability, along with experience in tools like MLFlow or SageMaker. You will contribute to technical strategy discussions, mentor peers, and help establish a standardized “golden path” for ML development at Plaid.
Design and implement large-scale ML infrastructure, including feature stores and deployment tooling.
Drive the rollout of Plaid’s next-generation feature store to enhance model development reliability.
Define and promote an ML Ops “golden path” for secure, scalable model training and monitoring.
Ensure operational excellence of ML pipelines by focusing on reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with ML product teams to deliver solutions that accelerate experimentation and iteration.
What we're looking for
5+ years of industry experience in software engineering, focusing on ML/AI infrastructure or large-scale distributed systems.
Hands-on expertise in building and operating ML platforms including feature stores, data pipelines, training/inference frameworks.
Proven track record delivering reliable and scalable production infrastructure for machine learning.
Solid understanding of ML Ops concepts, tooling, observability, security, and reliability best practices.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
Experience driving technical strategy and architecture discussions within engineering teams.
