As a Senior Software Engineer at Charles River, you will join an agile scrum team to enhance and maintain modules of the Investment Management Suite (IMS), focusing on implementing user stories that meet acceptance criteria without introducing technical debt. Your day-to-day responsibilities include debugging defects, writing unit tests, contributing to customer success, and collaborating across teams to improve efficiency. You must have expertise in Java, SQL, scripting languages, Snowflake performance optimization, React or Angular for UI development, and experience with large data sets. Additionally, you should be familiar with Azure or AWS cloud platforms and agile methodologies. This role requires a Master’s degree plus 3 years of professional software engineering experience or a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, emphasizing your ability to work independently on projects while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
Implement user stories and fix defects according to the Definition of Done.
Write unit tests and functional automation for software features.
Contribute to customer success by understanding their needs and product use.
Continuously improve technical skills and mentor new hires.
Identify and manage risks impacting sprint commitments.
What we're looking for
Proven ability in object-oriented programming, data structures, and relational databases.
Demonstrated experience with Java, SQL, scripting languages, and distributed computing.
Solid knowledge of financial application development and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
Experience in developing single-page UI applications using React or Angular frameworks.
Ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborative team environments.
Demonstrated capability in Snowflake performance optimization and UI testing frameworks.
