As a Senior Software Engineer at Plaid, you will join the AI Applications team as one of its founding members to drive the company's transformation into an AI-first organization. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing and developing scalable backend services and APIs, collaborating with other engineers to implement GenAI-powered products, and conducting rapid experiments to maximize business impact. You will work closely with various functions to understand user needs and propose innovative solutions. The role requires expertise in building backend services, proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks, strong software engineering fundamentals, and hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering. Additionally, you should be comfortable operating in privacy-sensitive environments and have a deep curiosity for GenAI applications. What we're looking for
Experience building backend services and working with microservices architectures.
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks for user-facing experiences.
Hands-on experience in developing LLM-powered products and iterating based on user feedback.
Practical expertise in prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, semantic search, and agent orchestration.
Ability to design and execute rapid experiments with a focus on minimal viable testing approaches.
Strong debugging skills and production monitoring experience.
