What you'll do

  • Lead and manage a team of 8 to 10 engineers in New York.
  • Define and maintain the internal collection and index APIs for MongoDB’s storage services.
  • Own the roadmap for durability, availability, performance, and developer productivity.
  • Manage customer escalations involving storage behavior and durability issues.
  • Drive process improvements to raise engineering velocity and code quality.

What we're looking for

  • At least 8 years of experience building and debugging distributed systems software
  • Over 2 years of direct engineering management experience including hiring and coaching
  • Strong proficiency in C++, Rust, or Go; prior C++ and systems programming experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of durability, availability, and performance tradeoffs in distributed systems
  • Proven ability to develop people and manage underperformance effectively
  • Comfortable leading multi-quarter initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • Direct customer support experience resolving complex incidents
