As Senior Director of Engineering for Code Puppy at Walmart Global Tech’s AI & Data organization, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to develop an enterprise-grade AI builder platform that empowers over 2.5 million associates globally. Your responsibilities include defining and executing the engineering strategy, establishing architectural standards for distributed systems and AI pipelines, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise data and governance layers, and embedding responsible AI practices. You will also drive operational excellence, elevate DevOps maturity, and foster a culture of innovation and inclusive leadership within your team. This role requires deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML productionization, and experience leading senior individual contributors at the principal or distinguished level.
Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for Code Puppy as a foundational AI builder platform.
Establish architectural standards for distributed systems, AI pipelines, and developer tooling to ensure scalability.
Embed guardrails and governance into platform design to enable safe and compliant AI deployment.
Elevate DevOps maturity, release management, observability, and cost optimization for mission-critical internal platforms.
Build and develop a high-performing team across engineering, data science, and program management.
What we're looking for
Over 12 years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including leading platform or AI-enabled product organizations.
Proven track record in building internal platforms or developer ecosystems at enterprise scale.
Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and AI/ML productionization.
Experience embedding responsible AI and governance frameworks into platform design.
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at VP and SVP levels.
Demonstrated success in leading senior individual contributors (Principal and Distinguished-level engineers).
Passion for building diverse teams and developing next-generation technology leaders.
