The Senior Data/AI Engineer is a senior individual contributor role within Specialty Networks’ Data & AI Engineering team, responsible for leading the design and delivery of data and AI solutions across Lakehouse and SQL Server environments. This includes owning projects from problem framing through production deployment, developing modern healthcare data platforms using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold), Delta Lake, and T-SQL ETL, and building natural language AI capabilities such as NLP/NLU and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). The role requires expertise in Databricks, Azure, GCP, PySpark, Spark SQL, and proficiency with T-SQL on Microsoft SQL Server. Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, a strong background in deploying AI/ML/NLP systems from research to production, and hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools. The position involves working with diverse healthcare data while adhering to HIPAA standards and collaborating closely with product, clinical, analytics, and platform teams to deliver robust solutions that improve patient outcomes at scale.

What you'll do
Lead design and delivery of data and AI solutions across Lakehouse and SQL Server environments.
Own projects from problem framing through architecture, prototyping, and production deployment.
Develop natural language AI capabilities such as NLP/NLU, RAG, and document-level LLM extraction.
Apply AI and data engineering to diverse healthcare data including EHR/EMR, PM, pharmacy, claims, and clinical notes.
Drive 0-to-1 initiatives from concept to production, defining problems and delivering measurable value.
Mentor mid-level engineers, fostering their growth and development within the team.
What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering with a focus on 0-to-1 initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Analytics, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
Expertise in Databricks, Snowflake, PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake fundamentals.
Proficiency in T-SQL for Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures, views, and functions.
Proven experience deploying NLP/NLU systems from research to production with healthcare data context.
Strong technical leadership skills, capable of scoping initiatives and driving architectural decisions.
