As a Senior Data Engineer at Capital One’s People Tech division, you will play a pivotal role in driving the digital transformation and operational excellence of corporate functions by building scalable platforms and data-driven insights. Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing robust technical solutions using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java, while leveraging public cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. You will work with distributed computing tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and NoSQL databases including MongoDB and Cassandra to handle real-time data streaming and warehousing tasks in Redshift or Snowflake. This role requires a deep understanding of UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting, enabling you to contribute to the strategic evolution of People Tech’s technical infrastructure for long-term stability and security.
Design and implement data pipelines using distributed computing tools like Hadoop and Spark.
Develop real-time data streaming applications to process high-volume transactional data.
Build and maintain data warehousing solutions on platforms such as Redshift or Snowflake.
Write complex SQL queries and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
Create scalable cloud-based big data solutions using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud services.
Implement NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra to support unstructured data storage.
What we're looking for
At least 5 years of experience in application development using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Proven expertise in distributed data/computing tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and MySQL.
Solid background in real-time data processing and streaming applications.
Extensive knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Cassandra.
Strong skills in data warehousing technologies including Redshift or Snowflake.
