About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Quality Engineering Senior Manager to lead and evolve enterprise quality engineering capabilities supporting application delivery across the technology organization. This role provides people leadership, hands on technical guidance, and delivery accountability to ensure testing, automation, and performance engineering solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned to Wells Fargo’s Banking Platform Architecture.
The Senior Manager plays a critical role in enabling modern delivery practices, supporting responsible adoption of AI and Generative AI, sustaining platform reliability and production readiness, and reducing delivery and operational risk across complex, multi team environments.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop multiple teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers operating in areas of moderate complexity and risk.
- Build and sustain a high performing engineering culture through hiring, onboarding, performance management, and skills development.
- Drive clear ownership expectations for senior engineers and technical leads, reinforcing accountability for design quality, delivery outcomes, and operational excellence.
- Promote continuous learning, experimentation, and engineering excellence aligned to enterprise standards and strategy.
Deliver AI-First Quality Engineering Capabilities
- Lead AI‑first quality engineering, using Generative AI to create tests, expand coverage, surface risk, and accelerate delivery across Agile and DevOps teams.
- Replace manual and rule‑based approaches with AI‑assisted Shift Left practices, including BDD/TDD, requirement‑to‑test inference, and intelligent defect detection.
- Operationalize real‑time quality signals (coverage, risk, readiness, defect leakage) to drive release decisions, prioritization, and engineering action.
- Enforce Banking Platform Architecture, SDLC, and non‑functional standards while applying AI responsibly within security, risk, and governance guardrails.
- Aggressively modernize quality and test execution using automation and autonomous agents, while maintaining production stability and delivery confidence.
Technical Leadership & Delivery Oversight
- Provide hands on technical leadership through code and test reviews, design guidance, and solution alignment.
- Act as a senior escalation partner for scrum masters and engineering teams to resolve delivery risks, remove impediments, and address technology roadblocks in build, test, and deployment pipelines.
- Drive improvements in CI/CD, DevSecOps automation, and quality gates to reduce cycle time and release risk.
- Maintain strong visibility into production readiness, release cadence, and engineering health, escalating risks early and decisively.
Architecture, Modernization & Innovation
- Partner with architects and senior engineers to align quality engineering solutions with enterprise technology strategies and target state architectures, including cloud migration and application modernization.
- Evaluate, pilot, and influence adoption of Generative AI and emerging technologies to improve engineering efficiency, test effectiveness, and insight generation.
- Ensure solutions meet expectations for security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability in regulated environments.
Product, Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement
- Serve as the technical representative for quality engineering in cross team initiatives, planning, and roadmap discussions.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Product Owners to influence priorities, advocate for quality, and improve user outcomes.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Engage directly with third party vendors and service providers, ensuring delivery quality, contract alignment, and adherence to enterprise standards.
Risk, Security & Governance
- Identify, manage, and mitigate technology, delivery, and enterprise risks, ensuring solutions meet security, stability, and compliance expectations.
- Partner with risk, control, and governance functions to support controls, validation, remediation, and audit readiness within quality engineering platforms.
- Balance speed and delivery commitments with disciplined risk management in high pressure environments.
Resource & Financial Management
- Manage people and financial resources to meet delivery commitments and align execution with technology strategy and business objectives.
- Actively manage capacity and prioritization, ensuring engagements are intentional and aligned to approved scope and strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated technical leadership in quality engineering or software engineering, including Shift Left, BDD, and TDD practices.
- Experience applying Generative AI capabilities within engineering or quality processes.
- Strong knowledge of DevSecOps automation, CI/CD pipelines, and quality gates.
- Proven delivery in Agile product‑centric environments.
- Strong consultative, influencing, and collaboration skills across engineering, architecture, and product partners.
- Ability to research, assess, and apply emerging technologies to enterprise use cases.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present technical concepts in business‑relevant terms.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute against competing demands.
- Experience driving process re‑engineering and efficiency improvements at team or platform level.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
