The Platform Architect V role within Enterprise Data & Analytics at The Standard involves defining, evolving, and enabling the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) as a cohesive system supporting data and AI capabilities across the enterprise. This senior-level position ensures that the platform ecosystem, including data ingestion, processing, governance, and access, is architected to meet current and future business needs while aligning with the company’s technology strategy. The role requires extensive experience in modern data platforms such as Databricks, Azure, Kafka, and Unity Catalog, along with expertise in AI/ML platform enablement. Key responsibilities include driving platform modernization, enabling engineering teams through technical leadership, and promoting adoption of standardized solutions to reduce fragmentation and enhance delivery velocity. Success is measured by increased EDP adoption, reduced platform fragmentation, improved stability, and enhanced delivery speed.
Define and evolve the Enterprise Data Platform architecture, establishing standards and integration patterns.
Guide platform modernization by improving scalability and reducing technical debt.
Enable engineering teams through reference architectures and mentorship.
Promote consistent adoption of standardized solutions to reduce fragmentation.
Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and governance requirements.
What we're looking for
15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations in large organizations
Extensive expertise in enterprise platform architecture, particularly modern data platforms
Experience designing complex systems and enabling AI/ML platforms
Strong technical leadership skills with a focus on mentoring engineering teams
Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive standardization across the organization
Familiarity with governance tools like Unity Catalog and Collibra for ensuring compliance
Deep understanding of strategic technology trends and their practical application
