What you'll do

• Lead the design and implementation of indexing strategies for PostgreSQL to handle unstructured data.
• Extend PostgreSQL’s query engine by introducing BSON-aware operators and custom scan nodes for NoSQL queries.
• Design index pruning strategies to maintain performance on large tables without compromising query efficiency.
• Profile distributed systems to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in real-time operations.
• Collaborate with open-source communities to contribute features that advance the DocumentDB engine.

What we're looking for

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals, including index access methods and operator classes.
• Experience designing and implementing indexing strategies for large-scale unstructured data.
• Proficiency in extending PostgreSQL’s query engine to support NoSQL queries efficiently.
• Strong background in building distributed systems with high availability guarantees.
• 5+ years of experience developing system-level features in large-scale cloud applications.
• Ability to collaborate across communities and organizations to advance open-source projects.
• Experience profiling and analyzing distributed systems to identify performance bottlenecks.
