As a Principal Applied Scientist on Microsoft’s Developer Division Data and AI team, you will lead innovative research projects that bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI technologies and practical applications for developers. Your day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with interdisciplinary teams across Microsoft Research, product groups, and GitHub to develop state-of-the-art models using large language models (LLMs) for software engineering tasks such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and evaluation techniques. You will also create new datasets from public code repositories and internal data sources, manage large-scale machine learning experiments, and work closely with developer product teams to iterate on AI projects at scale.
