TL;DR

As a Senior Member of Technical Staff in Microsoft Robotics focusing on simulation, you will lead the development of high-fidelity 3D asset generation pipelines that convert reality capture data into physics-ready assets for robotics simulations. Your daily tasks include designing automated workflows to process photogrammetry, LiDAR scans, and depth maps into accurate 3D models with precise geometry and material properties. You’ll also integrate these tools with Microsoft’s simulation infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration of real-world environments and objects into the digital realm. Key skills required are expertise in 3D reconstruction pipelines, proficiency with tools like Blender or Maya, knowledge of USD/OpenUSD formats, experience with robotics simulation platforms, and familiarity with synthetic data generation for training models. This role demands a deep understanding of physically based rendering and physics parameter estimation to ensure photorealistic simulations that accurately reflect real-world conditions.
