Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE) - iPhone

What you'll do

• Drive automation and fixture design activities for key manufacturing processes in the enclosure and module spaces.
• Innovate on assembly fixture designs to reduce costs and improve part yields through CAD conceptualization.
• Work with engineering teams to identify automation needs, provide feedback, and create proof of concept where necessary.
• Develop modular designs for component fixturing to maximize capital equipment reuse year over year.
• Provide onsite technical support at FAT/SAT, stress runs, NPI builds, and production ramp to ensure equipment capability.
• Coordinate activities with overseas counterparts to push process capability and identify/mitigate risk ahead of schedule.
• Maintain deep knowledge of equipment capabilities and key process drivers; leverage new technologies for improved manufacturing processes.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of experience in automation, robotics applications, and fixture design for mass production.
• Expertise in machine and fixture design, including vision systems, motion control, and sensors.
• Extensive CAD experience for mechanical components, assemblies, and precision fixtures using GD&T practices.
• BS/MS degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, automation, mechatronics, robotics).
• Ability to project manage automated manufacturing process lines and provide DFM feedback.
• Experience with industrial robots, PLCs/IPCs, and associated programming languages.
