As the Executive Director of Guidewire Policy Modernization and Core Insurance Platforms at USAA, you will lead multiple development teams in designing, developing, and maintaining applications that support various lines of business. You will collaborate closely with clients to align IT solutions with operational needs while ensuring adherence to corporate policies and legal standards. Your daily responsibilities include workload management, policy development, process improvement, vendor contract oversight, and financial stewardship for software projects. This role requires expertise in web-based application architecture, system integration, and object-oriented programming within a large enterprise setting. You must have extensive experience with the software development lifecycle and be adept at communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Additionally, you will oversee Guidewire PolicyCenter, Earnix/Pricing, and other vendor platforms, ensuring delivery predictability and operational readiness for key product lines such as Auto, Property, and Umbrella insurance.

Develops and enforces best practices and technology standards across the organization.

What we're looking for
10+ years of IT management experience and 4+ years in people leadership roles.
Strong technical background in web-based application architecture, system/database architecture, security, and object-oriented languages.
Extensive experience in all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience managing distributed development teams, vendor contracts, and financial budgets.
Understanding of industry frameworks like COBIT, ITIL, SAFe, and legislative/regulatory compliance requirements.
