Engineering Manager, Safety

What you'll do

• Lead a high-impact team of 13 engineers to develop automated AI training and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Own the development of user-facing tools for moderators to define and enforce community rules automatically.
• Manage the centralized platform used by admins to train AI models, process reports, and investigate suspicious activity.
• Define and execute an AI-first platform strategy to support a 10x scale increase while reducing incident response time.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate safety tooling and automated defense systems into Reddit’s core infrastructure.

What we're looking for

• Track record of managing and scaling engineering teams (10+ members).
• Deep technical expertise in full-stack engineering and large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to set strategic roadmaps and deliver results with a customer focus.
• Experience coaching and fostering a healthy team culture through regular feedback.
• Familiarity with AI/ML engineering practices for content and behavior detection.
