TL;DR · EMC/EMI Test Specialist

As a member of SpaceX's Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team, you will ensure the performance of avionics hardware across various vehicles by conducting EMC/EMI emission and immunity testing. Your daily tasks include designing test fixtures, operating equipment like spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes, and documenting results accurately. You must be proficient in electronics testing standards such as FCC Part 15 and MIL-STD specifications, and capable of working independently to troubleshoot complex issues. Familiarity with CAD systems for drafting and Python scripting is essential, along with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across multiple teams involved in spacecraft development.

What you'll do

  • Perform EMC/EMI emission and immunity testing on electrical systems.
  • Design and fabricate electro-mechanical assemblies, harnesses, and test fixtures from conceptual drawings.
  • Operate spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power meters, high-power amplifiers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems independently with minimal direction.
  • Maintain test equipment and oversee the calibration process.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in EMC/EMI testing and consumer electronics hardware testing
  • Familiarity with FCC Part 15, EN55032, MIL-STD-461, and DO-160G specifications
  • Ability to design and fabricate test fixtures, harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with flight hardware and R&D projects
  • Proficient in CAD systems for drafting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
