The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you’ll make

As a Software Engineer at Lam, you will be at the forefront of innovation by designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs. Your role is pivotal in developing software tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise will help determine hardware compatibility and influence system design, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware. In this role, you will make an impact across Lam’s entire product portfolio of equipment by working within our centralized software engineering team and collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

What you’ll do

Objectives

• Build and implement new development tools and infrastructure related to source control, build pipelines, deployment pipelines, test automation, and related systems.
• Work on automating and improving development, testing, release, and deployment processes.
• Test and review code written by others, examine results, and analyze findings.
• Ensure systems are safe, reliable, and secure against cybersecurity threats.
• Identify technical issues and develop software updates and fixes to address them.
• Work closely with software developers and software engineers to ensure development follows established processes and functions as intended.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement CI/CD build and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration within the Azure cloud environment.
• Monitor and manage system health, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth, secure application deployments while maintaining robust security measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to deployment and operations.
• Implement best practices for code management, deployment management, configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
• Support delivery of business priorities through workflow and priority management tools such as Jira.
• Maintain documentation of processes and solutions using Confluence.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Information Technology with 12+ years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience; or a PhD with 5+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.

• Proven 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, specifically with Azure is required.

• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.

• Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC).

• Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior semiconductor equipment experience.
• Experience with Bitbucket and/or Jenkins is a plus.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and identity management is preferred.
• Experience with distributed embedded control systems is desired.
• Software development skills in one or more general‑purpose programming languages, such as C++ or C#.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $141,000.00 - $307,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
