As a Comm Systems Engineer at Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Austin, TX, you will join the team responsible for defining and developing the communication system architecture of Amazon Leo’s broadband wireless network. Your primary responsibilities include designing advanced technology solutions for communication systems, creating proof-of-concept physical layer + protocol stacks to enhance LEO network performance, and developing simulation tools focused on modeling physical layer aspects like receiver abstraction and interference cancellation techniques. You will also work closely with a team to integrate hardware and software subsystems during system integration and link bring-up phases. The role requires expertise in digital signal processing, information theory, wireless communications, and experience with RF standards such as 4G/5G, WiMAX, and DVB-S2/C. Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or Perl for test setup automation is preferred.
Design and develop advanced communication payload systems for Amazon Leo’s broadband wireless network.
Lead the effort in creating proof of concept and reference implementation for physical layer + protocol stacks to enhance LEO network performance.
Develop novel solutions using digital signal processing, information theory, and wireless communications to achieve ultra-high performance in LEO networks.
Create simulation tools focusing on modeling advanced receiver aspects, interference cancellation techniques, and FEC models.
Integrate and verify various hardware and software subsystems during system integration and link bring-up processes.
What we're looking for
PhD or Master's degree with at least 5 years of quantitative research experience.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in wireless communications systems implementation.
Expertise in multiple access systems including OFDMA, TDMA, and CDMA.
Proficiency in test setup automation using MATLAB, Python, or Perl.
Strong knowledge of current and upcoming RF standards such as 4G/5G, WiMAX, DVB-S2/C.
Ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
