As an Applied Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer at Adobe Firefly’s Applied Science & Machine Learning (ASML) group, you will work with a dedicated team to enhance the quality and efficiency of generative AI models for images and videos. Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing distillation pipelines, refining post-training methods like supervised fine-tuning and preference optimization, and building infrastructure for efficient model deployment. You will collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to convert research ideas into scalable training pipelines and production-ready implementations, ensuring that large complex models are adapted into efficient versions for millions of users. The role requires expertise in machine learning algorithms, strong programming skills in Python, and experience with AI model optimization. This position is pivotal in advancing the scalability and performance of Adobe’s generative AI systems, supporting next-generation creative functionalities across various products.
Develop and run distillation pipelines to transfer capabilities from large models into smaller, efficient student models.
Refine post-training methods such as supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and preference optimization for generative AI models.
Build infrastructure and tools for creating teacher rollouts and managing distillation data pipelines.
Conduct experiments to enhance model quality, efficiency, and instruction alignment in generative AI systems.
Evaluate models using automated metrics and human feedback to guide post-training improvements.
What we're looking for
MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
2+ years of practical experience in machine learning and AI model training
Expertise in machine learning algorithms and model distillation techniques
Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages
Experience with AI model optimization and deployment efficiency
Ability to collaborate closely with research scientists and engineers
Knowledge of large-scale data pipelines and Adobe products (preferred)
