TL;DR · Antenna Engineer (Starshield)

Join the Starshield team at SpaceX as an antenna engineer, where you will contribute to advanced development programs supporting U.S. National Security by designing and testing small antennas, phased arrays, and reflector systems. Your daily tasks include setting specifications for satellite phased array products, debugging issues, and leading or assisting in integrating antennas with spacecraft and other systems. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering and at least one year of experience with 3D EM simulation tools like CST, HFSS, FEKO, AWR, ADS, Genesys, as well as proficiency in Python, C#, C++, or MATLAB. Familiarity with antenna measurement techniques and RF systems is essential, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and obtain a Top-Secret clearance.

What you'll do

  • Provide phased array expertise to set specifications and debug problems for satellite products.
  • Lead or support the integration of antennas with spacecraft and other systems.
  • Use 3D EM simulation tools like CST, HFSS, FEKO, EMPro, TICRA, or XFDTD.
  • Apply antenna measurement techniques in anechoic/reverb chambers and near field EM measurements.
  • Design and prototype RF systems including SIGINT, ELINT, radar, or communications.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in RF and antenna research or development
  • Proficient in at least one 3D EM simulation tool (CST, HFSS, FEKO, etc.)
  • Experience with basic RF concepts and systems including SIGINT, ELINT, radar, or communications
  • Familiarity with antenna measurement techniques and tools such as anechoic chambers
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, C++, or MATLAB
