As a Senior Software Engineer in DevOps & AI Platform at the Search PTE-DevOps team at Walmart, you will support high availability and reliability for systems processing billions of queries across Walmart sites. Your daily tasks include building and managing QE and release automation frameworks with AI-assisted capabilities, supporting Kubernetes-based containerization for AI/ML workloads, and leading incident resolution efforts. You will also design comprehensive monitoring solutions and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Concord, Looper, and WCNP. This role requires expertise in Python, Golang, Java, and hands-on experience with AI/ML tooling, LLMOps, and GenAI platforms. The team focuses on cutting-edge relevance algorithms and big data problems to enhance the search experience for millions of customers globally, emphasizing five 9’s reliability and leveraging advanced observability stacks like OpenTelemetry and eBPF-based tools.
Build and manage QE & Release Automation frameworks with AI-assisted test generation.
Design and implement comprehensive monitoring for application performance and AI model accuracy.
Lead the investigation and resolution of high-impact search system incidents independently.
Maintain and improve automation pipelines supporting CI/CD and MLOps processes.
Integrate AI coding assistants into engineering workflows to accelerate development.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience building scalable eCommerce applications or distributed backend services.
Strong expertise in containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes, including multi-cluster and GPU-node management.
Experience with modern CI/CD platforms (Concord, GitHub Actions) and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD).
Programming experience in Python, Go, Java, and Shell scripting, with exposure to REST and gRPC API frameworks.
Working knowledge of AI/ML workflows: model serving, inference optimization, LLM deployment pipelines, and GenAI platforms.
Familiarity with observability stacks: OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, log aggregation (Splunk), and AI-assisted anomaly detection.
