TL;DR · Software Engineer, Geospatial Data (Starshield)

Join the Starshield data team as a Software Engineer, where you will develop novel geospatial data processing models and create highly reliable software systems for earth observation data from satellites. You’ll work on mission-critical projects that involve tasking remote sensor payloads and processing information in low Earth orbit, ensuring secure, reliable, and autonomous operations. Key responsibilities include prototyping, developing, testing, and deploying machine learning models through the entire lifecycle. The ideal candidate has experience with C++, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and Linux server environments, along with a background in applied machine learning engineering and full-stack development. This role offers an opportunity to build scalable solutions for national security applications within a dynamic aerospace environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop novel geospatial data processing models from raw and partially processed sensor data.
  • Create highly reliable software systems for remote satellite payload tasks in low Earth orbit.
  • Implement machine learning systems to process information collected by satellites efficiently.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of software development, including prototyping, testing, and production rollout.
  • Ensure secure, autonomous, and reliable operation of space information systems throughout their development.

What we're looking for

  • 1+ years of experience in applied machine learning engineering, full stack development, and data science.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience applying modern computer vision algorithms at scale and developing within Linux server environments.
  • Proficiency with AWS or other cloud environments, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong skills in C, C++, or Python for geospatial data processing.
