They should be well-versed in standards like MIL-STD-882E and AC-17-01, possess strong presentation skills for design reviews, and manage hazard tracking databases effectively. The position requires a B.S., at least five years of relevant experience, and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, additional safety standards knowledge, and experience with Model-Based System Engineering.

What you'll do

Conduct and review complex safety analyses such as FHA, System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
Develop and document Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Identify hazards and risks, manage hazard tracking databases, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Support Design Requirements Process as a Subject Matter Expert to enforce safety best practices.
Lead corrective action reviews to communicate lessons learned and ensure timely implementation of actions.

What we're looking for

Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Safety Engineer or equivalent in defense/aerospace industry.
Extensive knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, AC-17-01, and other relevant safety standards.
Experience with function and requirements decomposition for Safety.
Hazard evaluation, management, and mitigation action liaising experience.
Design Review Experience (PDR, CDR, FRR, MRR) and strong presentation skills.
Eligibility to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.
