As a Senior Applied Scientist on the Siri team, you will lead the development and delivery of large language models that power UI control and conversational experiences within mobile hardware constraints. Your day-to-day involves driving research and engineering efforts in post-training techniques to enhance model efficiency and performance, collaborating closely with researchers and engineers to move innovations from prototype to production. You will set technical directions for the team, emphasizing hands-on innovation and rapid iteration. The role requires expertise in LLM/VLM post-training methods such as supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning, proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, and a strong background in model architectures and data curation. Ideal candidates have experience developing AI agents for complex reasoning and UI control, particularly in constrained environments, and understand the trade-offs between model efficiency and deployment in production settings.

What we're looking for
Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning Engineering or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of hands-on industry experience shipping ML-powered products, especially involving LLMs
Expertise in post-training methods for LLMs and VLMs including supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning
Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
Strong communication skills with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written abilities
