Netflix’s Infrastructure Engineering organization provides the backbone that powers Netflix's global scale and operations across business verticals. Within this organization, Data, AI & Experimentation Platforms accelerate product velocity and business impact by providing cohesive, reliable foundations for data, analytics, machine learning, and experimentation. Our mission is to drastically improve the productivity and delight of software and data practitioners, enabling them to move quickly from prototypes to shipped features, and from questions to decisions, with confidence and measurable outcomes.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly technical product manager to drive the next set of innovations within the Data Movement Platform in this organization, leading a product portfolio to drive significant business impact through your vision and product leadership. Your mission will be to provide a delightful and well-integrated experience across the online and offline data lifecycle, including storage, retrieval, movement, and processing, with a high degree of reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency for critical business use cases across Netflix. Some example initiatives you will lead include:

  • Defining and executing the strategy for the overall Data Movement Platform
  • Advancing both the abstraction-layer (DataMesh, DataBridge) and engine-layer (Kafka, Flink, Mantis) innovations across the portfolio
  • Crafting a cohesive user experience by bringing together the capabilities of the products in your portfolio, the related systems, and providing self-serve capabilities
  • Leveraging GenAI to further simplify the experience for your users
  • Shaping the platform direction to support and accelerate agentic applications built by the customer teams
  • Driving infrastructure excellence and efficiency (reliability, performance, cost, SLOs etc.)

You'll have the autonomy to set strategic direction, solve complex challenges, and make high-leverage decisions that impact thousands of software engineers and data practitioners across Netflix. By identifying breakthrough opportunities and championing solutions that advance business goals and user productivity, you'll evolve platform capabilities to maximize both immediate value and long-term success.

What makes this role exciting is the blend of strategic vision and hands-on leadership. You'll maintain a broad portfolio view while selectively diving deep where your expertise makes the biggest difference. Your success will be measured by enabling Netflix's growth, innovation, and competitive advantage, while delighting users with exceptional experiences that empower teams to work more efficiently and with greater satisfaction.

What You Will Do

As the Product Manager for Data Movement Platform, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Set Direction: Develop a compelling long-term vision and strategy for your portfolio, aligning user needs with business objectives and industry trends
  • Champion Users: Build deep user understanding and empathy through regular engagement, research, and feedback loops to identify pain points and opportunities.
  • Manage Roadmap: Develop and prioritize initiatives that balance immediate needs with strategic evolution to maximize impact, making thoughtful trade-offs and aligning stakeholders.
  • Guide Development: Partner with design and engineering to define requirements, create intuitive interfaces, and validate solutions that ensure cohesive user journeys across the platform ecosystem, to delight users and enhance their productivity
  • Support Architecture: Partner with engineering on critical architecture decisions that ensure platform sustainability, scalability, and flexibility while strategically managing technical debt.
  • Drive Adoption: Create effective rollout strategies and promote new capabilities through targeted communication, education, and roadshows, while providing comprehensive documentation, learning resources, and self-service tools that accelerate adoption and reduce support burden.
  • Drive Improvement: Define success metrics centered on user delight and productivity gains, and implement tracking to continuously improve platform capabilities through data-informed experiments.
  • Establish Governance: Develop platform standards and processes that balance flexibility with standardization and innovation with stability to maintain quality and consistency, including API design guidelines, versioning policies, and deprecation protocols.
  • Align Stakeholders: Build strategic relationships and foster cross-functional collaboration to drive alignment and create shared ownership of outcomes.
