As a Platform Reliability Engineer at RTX in Marlborough, MA, you will join the Digital Infrastructure Services team to design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes-based container orchestration platforms that support both unclassified and closed-area systems. Your daily tasks include collaborating with engineering teams to enhance platform usage, diagnosing complex issues, and developing observability tools to improve system performance and customer experience. You will work with infrastructure and application teams to forecast capacity needs and ensure high availability in cloud and on-premises environments using technologies like Kubernetes, Rancher RKE2, Terraform, Helm, Python, Go, Bash, Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki. Ideal candidates have a STEM degree or equivalent experience, along with 5+ years of relevant work history, including security clearance eligibility for U.S. citizens.
Implement, support, and optimize Kubernetes-based container orchestration platforms.
Diagnose and resolve complex Kubernetes-related issues in partnership with teams.
Develop and enhance observability and monitoring capabilities for system performance.
Improve Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR).
Work with infrastructure teams to forecast capacity and scaling requirements.
Implement and maintain monitoring tools, dashboards, and alerting systems.
What we're looking for
Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, operations, and supporting tools.
Experience deploying, configuring, maintaining, and supporting Kubernetes clusters in cloud and on-premises environments.
Expertise with observability and monitoring tools including Grafana, Prometheus, Alert Manager, and Loki.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Strong experience with Kubernetes-related tools such as Terraform, Helm, Python, Go, and Bash.
Background in designing highly available and resilient cluster operations across classified and unclassified systems.
