TL;DR · Electrical Engineer II, CAS

As an Electrical Engineer II in Cardiac Ablation Solutions at Medtronic, you will support the design and integration of catheter-based electrical systems used in electrophysiology therapies and diagnostics. This role involves working on moderately complex projects with limited supervision, contributing to the development of life-changing technologies that improve patient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, software development, quality assurance, and manufacturing to drive projects from concept through production. Key responsibilities include designing electrical systems for catheters, maintaining signal fidelity under challenging conditions, applying best practices in EMC design, and supporting risk assessments and corrective actions. The ideal candidate has a background in electrical engineering or physics with experience in embedded circuit design and medical devices, particularly in catheter-based device design. Familiarity with DFM and DFT principles is also beneficial, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

What you'll do

  • Design and integrate catheter-based electrical systems to deliver therapy energy safely.
  • Maintain signal fidelity in microvolt-level sensing signals under challenging EM conditions.
  • Apply best practices for grounding, shielding, filtering, and layout to mitigate noise effects.
  • Support high-density interconnect and connector system design for catheter applications.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, debugging, and failure analysis to resolve technical issues.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with no experience.
  • Experience in embedded and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Understanding of EMC design principles and test methods.
  • Hands-on rapid prototyping and benchtop testing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across functions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
