As a senior software engineer on the Membership & Monetization Platform (MMP) team at Netflix, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the commerce backbone that supports over 330 million members across 190+ countries. Your day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product managers, designers, and data scientists to develop features that drive growth and improve member experiences, such as password-sharing policies and new subscription plans. You will also tackle complex distributed systems challenges by optimizing throughput, ensuring consistency guarantees, and addressing race conditions in a high-scale environment. The ideal candidate has extensive experience building resilient, low-latency systems and possesses strong platform development skills, proficiency with Java, Kotlin, C#, or Scala, and familiarity with technologies like ElasticSearch, Kafka, Hive, AWS, Presto, Spark SQL, Apache Flink, gRPC, GraphQL, RESTful APIs, Cassandra, Amazon Aurora, and Memcached.
Design and implement resilient, high-scale distributed systems to manage subscription state and pricing for Netflix members.
Collaborate with product managers and designers to build commerce experiences that drive member acquisition and retention.
Tackle race conditions and consistency guarantees in distributed systems to ensure correctness at scale.
Evolve infrastructure to support new commercial initiatives like Ads, Games, and Live Streaming.
Take end-to-end ownership of projects from design through production operations for Tier 0 services.
What we're looking for
